Digital Marketing Executive

A great opportunity has arisen for a creative, proactive, and detail-orientated individual to join dp Books, The UK division of dp DIGITAL PUBLISHERS.

The Role

dp Books is the recently launched UK division of dp DIGITAL PUBLISHERS which is the leading independent digital first publisher in the German-speaking world. With up to 40 publications published per month, a catalogue of over 1,100 ebooks and more than 450 audiobooks, the programme covers almost every genre of fiction. In addition to Germany, Austria and Switzerland, dp has also been active in France since 2023.

Quality, efficiency, transparency and fair cooperation are at the centre of the partnership with dp. Our mission statement "we publish quality content for our audience to enjoy" is the focus of the programme selection.

The role is a hybrid full-time position with some travel into central London and to the company’s HQ in Stuttgart, Germany for onboarding and special events. For the right candidate we’ll also consider part-time and flexible working hours.

The successful candidate will have the right to live and work in the UK.

Purpose of the Job

Working closely with the Publishing Director in the UK and the global Team, the Digital Marketing Executive will play a pivotal role in developing and executing effective digital marketing campaigns to promote our English language eBooks, as well as managing all assets relating to publication such as cover designs and metadata.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Sales, Marketing and Editorial teams to drive awareness, increase sales, and engage with our target audience and ensuring that all campaigns are integrated and consistent across online channels.

Whilst your primary role will be for the English language market, you’ll also collaborate with German and French colleagues to exchange knowledge and learnings.

Key responsibilities

Digital Campaigns

  • Develop and implement digital advertising campaigns, including budget allocation, targeting, and performance measurement.
  • Brief designers to create engaging visual assets for digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Sales, Marketing, Product and Editorial teams to plan and execute book marketing campaigns across various digital channels that align with sales goals.
  • Manage relationships with online recommendation sites like Bookbub.
  • Stay up to date with the latest digital marketing tools and technologies.

Email Marketing

  • Develop and execute email marketing campaigns to drive engagement for both our ebook products and our community of reviewers.
  • Manage email marketing calendars and workflows.
  • Build and maintain email lists, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Analyse customer data to identify target audiences and segmentation opportunities.
  • Develop email marketing reporting and analysis to measure campaign performance.

Creation of Digital Assets & Metadata

  • Collaborate with the Publishing Director on book cover designs and prepare brief for designers.
  • Liaise with Editorial teams to ensure metadata is comprehensive and of high quality.
  • Brief designers and social media team on requirements for digital campaigns.
  • Prepare book marketing plans tailored to each new release.

Key skills, characteristics and capabilities

  • Creative and innovative thinker with attention to detail and a passion for books.
  • Proven experience in managing the life cycle of digital marketing campaigns within the publishing industry.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities.
  • Strong copywriting skills.
  • Experience of Meta, Metricool, Amazon Ads, Canva, and email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, is preferred.
  • Fluency in French or German is a bonus!
