But an US air force pilot has caught Stella’s heart and while trying to do right by everyone, she lives with the fear of losing Mac every time he sets off to battle.

Only when Mac meets Maverick New Zealand doctor Archie McIndoe does a glimmer of hope return. The unorthodox surgeon is determined to help badly injured soldiers such as Mac to return to a normal life not only through conventional medicine but through plastic surgery – and by starting to heal their emotional wounds.
